The CAOS 330 Quadcopter airframe is a small yet fully functional FPV quad deserving the QAV label. The Caos 330 is a symmetric 250mm size airframe that accommodates 5" props. The 250mm is measured motor shaft to motor shaft diagonally.
The airframe is designed to support a 3S-6S lipo setup and powerful T-Motor 2206-13 2000kv motors.
When I first saw the RJX CAOS 330 on RJX’s website, I know that I have to get it, because its look is so cool with a full fuselage, make it look like a space ship in Startrek.
And the day has come, in a small box like this:
Here is all the items in the box:
The version I get is the ARF version, which comes with electronics:
- Hobbwing ESC 12A
- Power distributor board (PDB)
- Video transmitter (VTx)
- A pair of 5.8Ghz antenna for VTx and VRx
Here is two antennas in the combo, the connector is female SMA, compatible with most of VTx on the market:
The camera is very nice too.
It uses Sony sensor and logic chip:
ESC is Hobbywing Space Walker 12A, not a really good ESC for multirotor but suitable for most of multirotor pilot.
Motor is RJX 2204-2300kv, which is OEM by Hacker, a great name in RC helicopter market.
It comes with two CW and CCW thread, marked by the color of the props nuts.
The power distributor board is nice too. More than enough for quadcopter like CAOS330.
Here is all the frame parts:
All of them were cut from high grade carbon fiber, and very strong.
The arms use 3mm carbon plate.
And precut with several slots and holes, so it is compatible with all the motors on the market for 250-300 quadcopter.

Follow the manual, the first step is assembly the arm support on the front arms and rear arms, and mount all for motor on them.
Remember to apply a drop of CA glue here to the bolt that hold the arm support to the arm to secure it:
All the motors were mount on the arm and ready to assembly on the main frame:
Next step is assembly the camera on the camera mount, by following the manual. Remember to cut the camera outer frame with unused holes or you cant slide it into the main frame:
Next step is mount the arm onto the upper frame, like this:
Make sure you mount the arm on the right side, as they use flat head bolt.
And install the canopy grommet to the canopy/ upper fuselage.
It will look like this:
Next thing I have to do is solder all four ESC’s to the PDB, very easy:
RJX CAOS330 was designed to have the ESC and PDB mount under the lower frame and stay between the lower frame and lower fuselage like this, but ESC will generate lot of heat in flight so I decided to mount them on the upper frame like this, also this is how I run the motor wire to the ESC.
Make sure you have test the rotation direction before wiring and mount the arm with motor on the main frame.
The CC3D will be in the front, as I don’t use 2nd camera here, RJX actually has a camera mount for the Mobius action camera but I don’t use it this time.
The fuselage will be mount to the frame by 2 bolt, remember to use washer here:
