Submited By: Stuart on 11/13/2008 Somebody said "go for the genuine Deans in the Deans bag, the rest are crap knockoffs", so I thought I'd try these, even if they charge a lot for the bag. Now, I'm very retarded when it comes to soldering (I JUST discovered that I'd been using a totally inappropriate lead-free solder that's impossible to melt, which may have contributed to the incident below - but still), but still: First time I used one of these, it melted the plastic so much that the metal element pushed out the other side of the plug, so one prong ended up 1/4" longer than the other, and tilted to one side 8-( . I've done a bunch of these, with lots of poor results, but never before seen the plastic melt like that. They must use softer stuff. Just my 2 cents. P.S. I got some 63/37 eutectic solder - now I'm the soldering master! ;^]
