Overview

The Blade 400 3D is designed to give intermediate to advanced heli pilots a ready-to-fly experience like no other. It comes 100% factory built and flight tested so you can get flying right away. There is nothing left to assemble or set up. The Blade 400 3D is ready for hovering and 3D aerobatics as soon as you finish charging the battery. And you can fly it just about anywhere, anytime thanks to the included Spektrum 2.4GHz DX6i radio system that avoids interference with other RC users, even those on other 2.4GHz systems. You also get the benefit of the DX6i’s advanced DSM2 protocol that provides the kind of locked-in, solid response that will let you fly even the most demanding 3D maneuvers with absolute precision.

The Blade 400 3D is the first ready-to-fly mini-heli to come equipped with Spektrum’s advanced DX6i 2.4GHz DSM2™ 6-channel programmable computer aircraft system. Besides providing freedom from frequency restrictions and interference, the DX6i’s DSM2 technology offers other unique advantages like faster control response and innovative features such as ServoSync™. ServoSync automatically resequences transmitted data so mixed servos receive their pulses at the same time so you can fly extreme 3D aerobatics with absolute precision. The system also includes the feather-light, 4.4-gram Spektrum AR6100e Microlite Receiver.

Other DX6i features include:
• Full-range capability
• 10-model memory
• Heli and airplane programming
• Two types of swashplate mixing: standard or 120º CCPM
• 3-axis dual rates and exponential
• Travel adjust
• Servo monitor
• Two 5-point throttle curves
• Three 5-point pitch curves
• Revo mixing
• Gyro sensitivy programming
• Two programmable mixes

The DX6i is not only perfectly suited for the Blade 400––it can also be used to fly just about any size and type of model due to its full-range and programming capabilities.

E-flite uses top-quality engineering and materials in everything it makes, so you always get the maximum level of value and fun. And E-flite backs all of its products with the best customer service and support in the hobby so your electric flight experience is always a positive one.

Yes, E-flite did not do there homework well. But, with a few upgrades it flies a lot better. I think this flies better. Yes, Its a little hard just to fly around still, and I am experienced. I accualy am not going to sell it anymore. I will upgrade it to the max and write another reveiw. The servos suck like everyone is saying. This is NOT ideal for the newbis tring to get into collective pitch, Get the new blade sr for that. This is NOT entry level, but a LOT better with some upgrades. I am starting to love this heli. I will post another reveiw when I have all the upgrades for it and when installed.

E-flite did not do there homework well. I think this doesnt fly that well at all. Its hard just to fly around, and I am experienced. I accualy am thinking about selling it. The servos suck like everyone is saying. This is NOT ideal for the newbis tring to get into collective pitch, get an outrage or align for that. The only real value is the DX6i in the box. This is NOT entry level. Helidirect is the only place I get parts for any heli. Great company, but they recommend this heli only because its RTF. Which thats a lie you have to get the adapter for the charger and thats $25.00. Save yourself $515 (cost after you buy and get adapter) and buy a kit.

When I bought mine I was completely new to big helis mastered the CX2, however mine came with a bad tail servo after many crashes I found that out. I never got it off the ground with out crashing it. Changed the servos out to metal gear servos now it flies like a dream. This is a great heli. Before I knew this I bought a bare bones Honey bee king V2 and transferred the old blade 400 parts over and couldn't get it off the ground either what a shock. That's how I found out I had a bad Tail servo this whole time. Haven't had a crash with the metal gear servos yet and it flies great. Very stable but need to definitely upgrade the servos only nothing else needs upgrading.

It's a really great helicopter - I've owned both T-Rex 450 and Outrage G5 after my Blade 400. But I'm still convinced that the Blade is the better helicopter. Flies like a bigger helicopter and is really the best in F3c-type of flying!

After attempting to learn unsuccessfully on a Esky King II, I broke down and bought a Blade 400 RTF. All I can say is WOW!! I know Eflite's sales literature says this is for intermediate to advance pilots, but having only previously successfully flown an Eflite CX2 co-axial heli before purchasing my Blade 400, I flew this heli straight out of the box. In short order, I was consistently flying nose-in and tail-in hovers, and close in circuits. This heli is a real confidence builder. A few weak spots are the servos - they eat gears like mad. But once you get the hang of things, you find fewer occasions to change out servo gears. Changing out the servo gear sets is pretty straight forward. Not much chance of get the gears in wrong, as they only fit one way. After a while, you can change out a set in under five minutes. Another weak spot is the stock feathering shafts. I'd highly suggest getting the after-market hardened feathering shafts available from HeliDirect - they are much stronger. Look for them in the heli upgrade section for the B400. But again, once you start getting the hang of things you'll find even the stock feathering shafts are pretty good. After breaking many pairs of stock wood main blades, I tried a set of Align 335mm fibre blades (not the carbon fiber ones, but the cheaper blue/white ones). Boy what a difference they made!! Not only was the heli far more stable in hover, but when you inevitably nose over on landings, a blade strike is no big whoop. You just set the heli upright, and you're flying again. The tips get rather rough and worn by grinding against the driveway, but it doesn't seem to make much difference. One big plus is the availability and low cost of replacement parts. This is a BIG for us beginners. I buy most of my parts from HeliDirect, but in a pinch, my LHS has a pretty fair selection of spares. One thing I wish Eflite would come out with is a suitable training gear for the B400. I've been buying sets from a supplier in HK, but the center disks are extremely weak and split in half after a few hard landings. Also the Specktrum 6xi radio is excellent. Very easy to program and navigate through the menus. Also, I find the stock gyro to be more than adequate. I prefer the HH mode, but both work well. If you're looking for a great RTF package, dig a little deeper, and get a Blade 400. If you're like me, you'll be glad you did.

i have purchased one of these excellent helicopters! i say excellent in the fact that it's ideal for newbies to collective pitch and 3D and a good 'knock about' heli for those more experienced pilots. it's no T-Rex but it doesn't try to take that title! the biggest value of the kit is the DX6i which will then enable people to get other helis without the expense of another transmitter! being a newbie myself, i went to a guru who helped me set it up before we flew it properly and it was extremely close to the mark (it does actually say 'ARF' on the box on the top side by the handle!!). for me it is a very good entry into this very involved hobby!

After numerous servo failures the cyclics were replaced by metal gear HS65s. The rudder servo is a DS285mg. The DX6i was replaced under warranty because it sent uncommanded signals to the cyclics on occasion. Between the servo failures and the transmitter failure, the latter possibly causing the servo grief, the Blade mostly sits awaiting parts. The Blade now appears to have a RX problem causing loss of throttle control. Were it not for the Honey Bee K2 and CX2 I would not be flying at all. At least they got the color right on my Blade - lemmon yellow.
