Submited By: Robert on 05/19/2009 This is my favorite 450. It flies light in the controls and fast, but very very stable at high head speeds. The only reason I gave this 3 stars is because this particular kit comes with a motor and speed controller. Both get extremely hot with the 13t pinion with a pitch of -11 to +11. I am not the only one with this issue (see helifreak Thunder Tiger Electric forum). I can understand a little heat on the motor, but we're talking too hot to touch without gloves or a towel, on the both the heat sink of the speed controller, and the motors can. With the 15t pinion I got a thermal shut down at around 4 minutes. I will be buying another kit, I like this heli that much, but it will be the one w/o the motor and speed controller. On a 7 minute flight with the 13t pinion, I used 1471 mAh of a 2100 mAh 25C Lipo. Which is good, but I'm not sure how long this heli would survive if I kept running it at those temps. This Kit is extremely easy to put together and well thought out. All electronics are accessible. I changed the pinion on the motor in about a minute. The CG with a Hyperion 2100 25C was dead on. Almost no slop in the head, and none that I could find in the tail. I use HS 65's on the cyclic, and a Hyperion DS 09 digi on the tail. With the HS 65's you'll need to sand the elevator servo mount to get them to fit. The pitch and Aileron servo mounts are just barely big enough for the HS65's. I used a 401 knockoff for the gyro. The stock blades are a bit "flexie." I switched over to Align 325 woodies. You have to use shims with those blades. The canopy comes unpainted, but the kit comes with a ton of decals. So if you can deal with the plain white you don't have much to do. You will need to glue in the "Window." I used canopy glue.
