The FrSky Taranis X9D Plus 2019 is a re-designed version with additions like an additional momentary button placed on the top left shoulder making it ergonomically friendly for DLG pilots to activate launch mode, and features a program scroll wheel making it even easier to navigate the menus. The upgraded MCU is used in conjunction with a re-designed mainboard that further increases the computing capability and increases the data storage. The upgrades not only improve the running of LUA scripts, it also optimizes overall performance like voice speech outputs.

The 2019 version uses the latest ACCESS communication protocol, it boasts 24 channels with a faster baud rate and lower latency with a high-speed module digital interface. Along with the new spectrum analysis function added to the OpenTX firmware, it is now possible to check the airwaves for RF noise. This version will give you a further improved experience based on the classic Taranis remote control. Additionally, tons of extra upcoming features that ACCESS brings will make this an ideal transmitter for any skill level.

The SE 2019 version is installed with the upgraded switches and M9 hall sensor gimbals and features the addition of a PARA wireless trainer function which makes them compatible with the FrSky Free Link App and AirLink S.

Excellent radio with many features and excellent opportunities for expansion

The Taranis X9D Plus SE is an excellent radio. It offers good control with minimal configurations and excellent performance when you take a little extra time to configure the advanced settings. The only let down is the lack of a good manual (sorry FrSky, but a singled double-sided sheet and pointing me to the OpenTX site doesn't cut it). There is a good printed third-party manual available, if you're like me and want to hold a dead tree in your hands while doing configuration work.

Excellent transmitter

I switched from my Spektrum DX6 to this. This FrSky feels every bit as good as the Spektrum with regards to stick movement and switch quality. The interface is great on the controller, and the Windows software works very well. I had to use an SD card to update the firmware to 2.3.2 but while following along with a YouTube video this was very easy. I also purchased an S8R receiver, connected it all to a FliteTest Mini Mustang and within an hour or two everything is setup. This has an equivalent SAFE mode. I spent about $230 for the transmitter, $45 for the receiver, and it's better than a $1300 setup from Spektrum. I can't recommend this transmitter enough. 24 channels! Affordable! Myriad receiver options for all purposes. I'm elated to have this bad boy to fly with.

Nice radio with great features and expandability

The unit I got was shipped with 2.3.0 dated 2019-7-22 so I used openTx companion to update it to the latest 2.3.2 version. I then tested it using "Liftoff" with this as my controller. It was much crisper than my QX7S with its upgraded gimbals and it seemed I had much more control in the air with them. I'll have to play a bit longer with it to get a better feel for the sticks but overall I really like this radio. I have not had a chance to test out the R9M module and ACCESS mode yet as I need to get a receiver in that supports it but that will be next.
