This is an outstanding radio, and for the price? even more amazing!
Happy with the purchase! One of the best radios I've ever had. Works great just like the Tango II. Happy with the purchase and fast shipping from HeliDirect :)
I loved my Turnigy 9XR Pro but it is no longer in production and when my started to fail have five years of hard use, it was time to consider the current state of the market. I looked at the Taranis and was impressed, couldn't afford Futaba and didn't want to be tied down to one protocol. Had heard good things about the Jumper version of this radio and so started researching the Radiomaster. Decided to give it a try and ordered it from HeliDirec who was prompt with the shipping and very good with communication.
The radio is impressive. Build quality seems very good, not sure I'll ever use the touch screen when it becomes active but it's there but also contributes to a difficulty seeing in bright sunlight so more of negative than a positive to me. Probably the most challenging part of this is that you cannot simply sit down and in one evening grasp all the things this radio can do. My Turnigy, running eepskye, could do a lot but nothing compared to the RM. And of course, moving the models over is only the first step, trimming and flying that model is basically a maiden flight all over again.
I've had to increase the stick tensions on both siders by quite a bit. They were very loose making it difficult to get tactile feedback as to how far you had moved the stick. My first flight on this with my aged and reliable T-28 made me look like a noob so glad I didn't go with something 3D as a first attempt. I've now gone through about half of my 16 planes and am comfortable with the controls and where the switches are located. Speaking of switches, a couple more 2 position to replace a couple of the 3 position would actually be welcome not that there isn't an easy workaround to make a 3 into a 2.
So far it has bound with everything I own which is mostly Turnigy and Spektrum but even some of my toy grade stuff like a cheap quadcopter has been able to bind successfully. I think for the money, you cannot find a better or more versatile radio in today's world. When I think I paid $300 for a 4 channel proportional Futaba in 1982, we have come a long, long way in this hobby!
The Radiomaster speaks for itself. I ACCIDENTLY ordered 2 radio's. Helidirect was quick to refund me, no questions asked. Fast Midwest Shipping!
this is a great radio for anyone that is wanting an all in one solution for there fleet
Some years ago, the first hobby grade RC transmitter I ever bought was a Futaba 7C. I think I paid something like $400 for it brand new and had to special order it through my local hobby shop. Two years ago I bought a FrSky QX7 for a little over $100. This was already a big improvement over the Futaba in terms of capability and price, but things like the LCD screen were really no better than the Futaba.
Enter the Radiomaster TX16S. For $150 this thing is absolutely incredible. Smooth hall effect gimbals and a BIG full COLOR LCD screen with very good navigation. This radio also feels very good in my hands and has a good weight too it. It feels quality.
I placed a pre-order on this product back on Sept 8 2020. HD has no idea when it will be filled. They told me that there is no estimate on expected delivery. They thought it was in customs aver a week ago. another week has gone by.. ..............still waiting.............10/20/2020
I got one from here while in stock. Super fast processing & shipping!
This is great radio. If you’re looking at it, just get one! Very much worth the wait if you have to.
Very customizable, even from model to model. The more you learn about it, and OpenTX, the more you realize how good it is.
Very frequent stable firmware updates for the radio and for the build in transmitter system. Being multi protocol, it is very convenient & can reduce the number of transmitters you need.
Easily worked with all my old Spektrum stuff. I’ve successfully been able to use it with two Align 450 Hell’s. One with a Flysky receiver & V-Bar, the other with a Spectrum clone receiver with a Fly Wing H1 GPS system. Also bound to a few smaller craft including a little Blade 70s, and even a tiny Syma X20 drone.
The factory support is exemplary. They have a repair place it Texas with a very fast turn around time. The TX16S from here is my second one. The first, I waited almost 2 months for from China, and had a bit of an issue. Expecting a lengthy repair time, I got one from here too. But in the same week, my first one was sent repaired, and send back. Fun having an extra one to have fun with modifying.
Don’t worry about the learning curve. Even this 66 year old, re-entering an old hobby, can do it!
