The XK K130 is a good heli for its price range. And with some rebuilding and fine tuning. It becomes a good entry level Heli that won't break the bank. It is also a good platform for a newbe to learn the basics on how to setup and maintain a collective pitch rc helicopter. It is a micro class heli so the linkage parts and fasteners are small and intricate to work on. It has an all aluminum main head and swash plate, and a brushless main motor. The tail motor is a brushed coreless motor and in flight it feels like a coreless motor and not a brushless. It holds well for scale flying and the occasional flip or so. Like with any "ready to fly" heli, you need to disassemble the main head and reassemble it the correct way. On mine I needed to pack the blade grip bearings with grease, and sand down the two aluminum washers between the main head block and the blade grips. There was too much preload on the bearings and caused the blade grips to bind and feel notchy. This resulted in the collective pitch not being smooth and sticking. I took .010in off of each washer using a fine pocket knife sharpening stone. After the mod, the heli flew much better with smooth collective pitch response. Don't forget to blue locktite the feathering shift screws when reassembleing. I also noticed that after flying, the main motor was a bit warmer than I would have liked. This heli also came with a decent budget radio with the capability to customize pitch and throttle curve. This is important for the new pilot and allows the control response to be tuned down to a novice flying level. I would suggest upgrading to metal gear servos as the stock plastic gear servos do not hold up well to even minor crashes. Overall for the price point, it's a decent heli. What would make it realy nice is if it had a brushless tail motor. That feature may put it out of the $150. price range though.
great buy perfect for begginers
First off I want to say that iv always loved every XK product that iv purchased.!.!.!. I currently own the k100,k123,k124 & two k130’s. That being said the k130 is definitely not for beginner heli pilots, it’s just too powerful witch translates to high speed crashes that definitely break parts. So don’t do like I did & think u can pilot above your skill level it gets rather expensive lol. When your ready definitely get the K130 u won’t regret it.
Besides the landing gear being very *brittle*, this is a little beast. I had to order 30+ dollars in repairs. I have to make adjustments to mellow it out. Last outing was bad. Need new blades, main gear, a servo and feathering(?) Shaft and the head for the shaft. While this sound bad, it's cheap enough to fix and has tons of potential. Room to grow.
Over all, this heli represents a very good value. I liked my original so much, I bought a second heli for my grown son. The heli can be toned down by reducing the pitch and throttle curves along with dual rates. I zip tied the landing gear in the back and around the receiver and under the battery to better hold the landing gear. It was a little flimsy. For the package price, the computer transmitter works well. This heli can work well as a beginner heli and it is capable of growing with you.
Flies good but had alittle mishap stripped two servos already and of course not in stock.now I'm waiting.
Flies great right out of the box with the stock transmitter
Fun little helicopter!
The quality is outstanding, especially at the price. The packaging of this is like a fine instrument!
I wasn't expecting this as I'm not very experienced at 3D flying. It's very powerful and very responsive on the sticks. A great heli, I'm happy with it but I'll have get in the settings and turn things down bit till I get used to it.
