This is the perfect Regulator for running DS8717’s on 6V
The Arizona Heli Regulator is specifically designed with RC helicopters
in mind. It can handle very high currents, in very demanding environments. It
has two separate voltage outputs: 5V for the gyro, and an adjustable 5 to 8.00V
for the receiver…allowing better responsiveness for the digital servos not
associated with the gyro system. It also can act as a solid state switch,
eliminating a mechanical switch in the power path. The solid state switching
uses a 'pin and flag' system, so there are no moving parts in flight.

Translating Power
The Arizona Regulator is rated in Watts, because the current limit moves,
based on load. These limits are affected by battery voltage "droop" as it is
loaded, and the voltage setpoint of the adjustable output. Current limits are
shown to the left (based on power)*, for a regulator with the adjustable voltage
at 6V (red), 5.5V (pink), and 5.0V (purple). Note that the higher output voltage
means the regulator does not have to work as hard, and therefore the current
limits are higher.

The Heatsink
Like the Arizona Regulator, the heat sink that the Arizona uses has been
designed from the ground up. Fromeco designed the Heat Sink from scratch using
thermal modeling software. Each Heat Sink is milled (not extruded) to our specs,
and then anodized Fromeco Blue. The Arizona Heat Sink is a critical part to the
Business End of the Arizona Regulator, and allows for the harshest 3D flying
imaginable in any ambient condition, on Earth!
The Cat Splint
Dubbed by Fromeco the "Cat Splint" for lack of a better name, this piece of
Delrin plastic with rubber grommets helps to isolate the Arizona Regulator from
the equipment rattling vibrations that Helicopters have. The Cat Splint also
serves as a mounting aid, slits for velcro strapping have been relieved into
it's sides. A picture below and to the left shows a Cat Splint mounted on an
Arizona Regulator. All Arizona's come standard with Cat Splints, so no need to
ask for one!
Conformal Coating
Fromeco utilizes an "Open" board configuration on the Arizona. This Save
weight and space. The Conformal Coating protects the Arizona from the elements,
Nitro, Oil, and Dust, each Arizona is Conformally Coated. Pictured on the right
is a closeup of an Arizona and it's Conformal Coating.
Plugs
Arizona Regulators have five leads total, an Input "Blue", Deans, or
Power Poles (not Pictured), a Charge Lead "Black", a Switch Lead* "Neon
Yellow", a Gyro Lead "Green For Gyro", a Rudder Lead "Red for Rudder". Of
Course Fromeco knows there is no "Gyro Lead" and no "Rudder Lead". Green is
Gain, and Red is for the Tail Rotor Servo. We just call them that to make things
easy to remember.
*The Pin Flag switch has a matching Neon Yellow
Female jack, (Pictured at the top of the page). A normal "Off the Shelf" type
switch will not work in place of our Pin Flag switch unless certain
modifications are made.
Voltage Adjustment
To the left is a picture of the Voltage Adjustement pins that come on each
Arizona Regulator. The voltage adjustment pins allow the end user adjust the
Receiver voltage between 5.00Volts and 8.00Volts. The link below will take you
