RE: electronics. under categories, click combo packages, then hdx450 will show you how to purchase all the necessary electronics. this was my first build, i did use the align ball and links like suggested. haven't taken it outside yet but hovers rather nicely inside. wish helidirect sold all the control linkeages (including the ones that attach from the servos to the swash) because i don't like buying from anyone else.

I've been flying my HDX450 SE V4 for about a month and a half, and I have no regrets about getting this kit. There have only been a few issues, and HeliDirect did their best to resolve every one as fast as possible. The manual that came with my kit was for the V3, but that wasn't a big deal since the primary difference between the V3 and V4 is the head and tail assembly, which come pre-assembled. My one-way bearing locked up after a few flights and I had a bad main shaft bearing, but HeliDirect sent out replacements right away. The overall quality is great, but I would suggest the following upgrade from Align is mandatory: Linkage Ball Sets (HS1285 and HN6052). The aluminum balls included in the kit can be gouged very easily with link pliers, and then the balls tear up the link ends in a matter of a flight or two, creating significant slop in the linkages. There are also a few upgrades I would consider optional: Main Gear (HS1218-84), One-way Bearing Shaft (HZ026), and Linkage Rod Set (HS1130). With the stock 3400Kv motor and 13-tooth pinion, a 30A ESC is plenty for hovering and casual flight and is just enough for mild 3D. For anything more, I would suggest an ESC rated for 35A or higher.

High quality kit at a great price. Can't be beat. Only thing I can complain about is the balls and links. They are poo, get some align ones. Other than that, Awesome. Flies way better than a Copterx, maybe even a Trex. Can't go wrong.

Best heli kit I have ever owned, hands down. Easy to build, very high quality, and went together very smoothly. Even better was how it flew - glass smooth w/o an issue! For anyone looking for a 450 heli that has all the upgrades, this heli is it!

I have just received my HDX 450 V4. Great kit! Quality is very good. Blade (even it is wooden) are perfecty balanced. 5 starts!
