I flew around a toy-grade RC helicopter until the swash plate melted. I got bit by the bug.
I set myself up with a Radiomaster Boxer 2.4 ELRS transmitter, and Goosky S1. It feels and flies just like it did out of the box after 10+ flights and a few minor learning crashes that I was able to cut the throttle in time for.
The setup process is harder than flying this helicopter. As someone completely new to binding and mapping a RC helicopter, it took me easily 6-8 hours of setup time before I even took to the sky. On my first takeoff, I found out I had the channel 5 (stability / 3D flight) backwards. After panic cutting the throttle and ditching it into the neighbor's bushes, I had to go back and figure out where I was incorrect. It is much more forgiving now that I've figured out the stability mode.
This leads me to my main critique of this helicopter. I wish the instructions were more comprehensive and less vague. I very well could have crashed the helicopter badly in my process of figuring out if +100 or -100 on channel 5 was stability or 3d mode - though this is probably also due to my lack of skill in setting up the channels.
Lastly, I feel it is also pertinent to make it obvious that a separate ELRS receiver needs to be purchased, as this kit does not come with one! Additionally, some guidance on the proper mounting of the bluetooth and ELRS receiver modules would be appreciated.
These complaints are more growing pains coming from a newbie, and less real complaints. This helicopter is awesome and it is very much worth it in my opinion if you have your own ELRS transmitter.
