The new EVO has much more advance chassis comparing to our current CR18P. It has full metal gear all over the car which there is no one available in the market out of the box. With the very low CG weight of full metal gear, it also make the EVO has much better crawling performance out of the box.
Another advantage with the new transmission is the durability, user’s don’t have to worry with the durability of the gear any more which happen on the CR18P. The new final drive of the transmission give’s the new EVO very slow crawling performance like the CR18P have and the additional 2ndspeed give more trail fun when you need speed.
The new EVO is comes with 130 size 100T brushed motor as standard and the tranny has large room to grow for modification for future larger over-sized motor such as 180, 240, 270 or even bigger. Another features of the new EVO transmission is the reverse rotation for the rear drive shaft which we can have performance upgrade later to eliminate the torque twist.
The weight bias of the new EVO has also redesign to increase crawling performance. It has more forward and lower weight bias compare to all the Hobby Plus micro crawler. CR18P EVO is platform that has very huge upgrade possibility and EVO be able to be best in both crawling and trailing performance. The CR18P EVO has come with some new great features as below

Great quality for a budget RC, a solid package out of the box, and decent upgrade potential. If you want something that performs great right away but still leaves room to grow, this is a great choice.
The CR18P Rock Van comes in 3 iterations: the original CR18P Rock Van, this EVO, and the EVO2. The original is older and more basic, I wouldn’t recommend it at this point. Between the EVO and EVO2, my take is this: if you want a cheaper entry point with the goal of heavily upgrading over time, go with the EVO. If you want the best performance out of the box and don’t plan to upgrade much, go with the EVO2.
Either way, you really can’t go wrong.

Love it
Love it. I use it inside the living room while my toddler chases it. The 2 speed is a nice addition to go relatively fast but crawl great.
The lights and looks make it a joy to drive scale over a bunch of kids toys.

Excellent Purchase
Lets see where to start, portals, two gears, neutral, lights, lights with functional control from the remote, a remote with a bunch of functions, good tires with foams, inexpensive, nice swing away body, and actually astonishingly capable. With the body and the bumpers, I did not count on good crawling ability, but stock, it crawls better than a stock TRX4M defender. This was my first Hobby Plus vehicle but will not be my last. Between Hobby Plus and FMS I cannot foresee buying an SCX24 or TRX4M in the future until they step it up two or three notches. One thing to note, be careful if you put one inch wheels and tires on the Roc Van, they are likely to rub significantly on the portals. The Van comes with 1.2 inch tires and if you take a look at the stock set up, you can see why. Also note, the Van does have friction shocks, but for the price and the other functions, how can one complain?

Digging the van
Love the van! Added some wheels and tires for extra weight and changed out the shocks and it made a huge difference. Very fun to drive

EVO has that 2nd gear that’s much appreciated!
So I’ve wanted the Rock Van for awhile and when the EVO came out with the two speed transmission then I was sold. Bought a clear body earlier and had a REPAINT of the Old Skool Monster Truck from the 80s. ROLLIN THUNDER! Added some chrome too! Can’t wait to put some Furitek stuff in it too!!!

Really Cool Van
This is a good trailing vehicle out the box but not so much for crawling because of the limited clearance due to the full body. The body is very scale and has full lights. I was sold by the EVO versions because of the 2 speed transmission. I did some custom work to mine.
