I prefer a thumb AND index finger on my sticks for sure control, it’s a habit I got into when I switch from single stick to two sticks years ago and flew mostly precision aerobatics, pattern, and IMAC. These ends are the best I’ve ever had in my hand, being nicely nurled and just a bit bigger. (I put them on my Jeti)
