XDFly HPro300 brushless electronic speed controller(ESC). Please download manual HERE

iOS app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/esc2/id6449901550

Key Features:

  1. Equipped with high-performance 32-bit G4 processor with operating frequency of up to 170MHz.
  2. Adopting new generation of power MOSFET, it features low heat generation, high instantaneous current endurance and high reliability.
  3. Self-check function: After power-on, the ESC will automatically self-check for power supply short circuit, motor phase loss, throttle zeroing, and voltage range.
  4. The special and unique case design greatly increase the heat dissipation area and significantly enhance the heat dissipation performance of the ESC.
  5. The smart temperature controlled fan will only start when the temperature exceeds 40 degrees, ensuring a quiet environment during the adjustment.
  6. With helicopter speed governor function, the constant speed sensitivity can be adjusted and is easy to operate.
  7.  Equipped with the time selection function for stall landing, it can be manually adjustable within the time set to avoid a crash due to handling errors.
  8. The ESC has an independent programming interface, it supports parameter adjustment via Phone APP/Mikado VBCT/E/Rotorflight2/Jeti remote control devices.
  9. With telemetry function for Mikado VBCT/E, Rotorflight2, Futaba SBUS2, Jeti, MSH Brain, and iKon, allowing users to check data in real time.
  10. Equipped with colorful LED lights including five optional colors for users: red, green, blue, yellow, and white, which indicate the ESC status through flashing modes.
  11. Multiple protections: abnormal power-on voltage, start-up, temperature, throttle signal loss, over-load, low-voltage, over-current.

Important Warnings

  • Always place safety as priority when you use the product.
  • An electric motor that is connection with battery pack and ESC may start unexpectedly and cause serious danger.
  • Always treat a powered system with respect.
  • Always remove the propeller or disengage the pinion gear before the battery connected if you need to working on a plane or helicopter at short range.
  • Please observe all local laws regarding the flying of remote control aircraft.

ESC for Scale helicopters

In the midst of rising prices and disappearing hardware, I was in search of a more affordable ESC. Currently I use Kontronik ESC”s in all of my scale ships due to the quality of their governor and the plug-and-play functionality, but mostly because the governor holds a phenomenal RPM on my Roban fleet that allows me to perform scale and realistic flights with no issues. But one can argue: “is Kontronik really worth the price?” In walks the XD Fly 300 amp ESC.

WHAT I LIKE:
-It is well built. It has a solid aluminum casing and the built in fan seems to have a good bearing in it and strong soldered connections.
-The instructions aren’t super intuitive, but it will get you in the ballpark of operating if you understand the industry standard of ESC acronyms.
-Bluetooth programming…. You will also see this on the dislike as well. Once you figure out how to connect it, you will be cooking with hot grease. (Search a BLE connection WITHIN the app to pair it to your device).
-The governor was functional and stable with an equivalent to my Kontronik choices. I have it installed on a gen 1 Roban EC-135 with Fenestron tail rotor. And the heli weighing in at 18.8 lbs.
-The software within the app(I’m using IOS devices) is straightforward and intuitive. I didn’t have any issues in the download or uploading of the firmware update via Bluetooth.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
-Bluetooth..,, it took me about 24 hours to learn how to connect with the ESC. I had to phone a friend who uses Hobbywing. (It does not connect to devices like other Bluetooth technology). It is done within the app. Oh and it does not store data. Which I don’t need it to nor am I complaining because it doesn’t.
-As I said; I bought this ESC for my scale helicopters. My biggest dislike of this ESC is that it does not allow for scale spoolup! This ESC is perfect for 3D”ers and pod and boomers. It would even work if slow scale spoolup isn’t an eyesore for you as it is for me.
-if you buy XD Fly ESC’s, I recommend purchasing the programming box or the Bluetooth module along with your ESC. The stick programming is not reliable.

All in all, the price point between this ESC and a Kontronik is vast, but it is a functional. Device and out of 300 amps with a 19 lb scale helicopter I was flying on 20 amps at a hover and less in forward flight with a headspeed around 1260. I’m told these are similar to Hobbywings, but I don’t care for HW governors because in my opinion they don’t hold a headspeed as accurate as I’d like.

It’s worth the money as long as you get the BT module or programming box. (It wouldn’t let me upload the 135)
