The cable and software itself work fine but YGE's design could of been better. For the YGE65LV ESC, you have to break out the RPM wire from the telemetry port for RPM use. Then if you need to use the programmer, you have to put the RPM wire back in the connector, so it becomes tedious. Additionally not having USB ports directly on the ESC and charging $45 for a this is a bit steep.
This adapter enabled me to easily update my YGE ESC firmware to the latest version. The only drawback is the requirement from YGE that they grant you permission to download the update. That was recently done away with so there are no current issues to speak of.

I got this to update my Saphir 155 ESC and to help with programing it. Now all I have to do is setup Gov Store mode with the controller and teach in the Gov Store and I am all set. you can set up mode in the software with the programmer, but even YGE suggest to use the transmitter to set up mode. This also allows you to set your BEC voltage and any other parameter you want to change. It is necessary for updating the ESC to the latest firmware. Just use an email they don't flag as spam. My Hotmail email got flagged as spam, but my yahoo email did not and I got the latest update in firmware.
You really need this USB adapter for firmware updates as well as "full" programming of the YGE ESCs.
