The FrSky Tandem X20S Series is a dual-band telemetry radio that has great features such as a color touch screen display and an ergonomic design that provides unprecedented comfort when held. Hardware Design
The overall weight of Tandem X20 has been kept low, less than 1000 grams, by incorporating the use of lightweight materials while maintaining a strong and robust quality. The radio system comes with an 800 x 480-pixel color touch screen display on the top area of the radio which is easy to read indoors and in direct sunlight outdoors.
The Tandem X20S has been complemented with 6 customizable buttons on the front case that allows for quick switching between features, ideal to be used for flight modes. Additional 2 rear momentary buttons have been introduced to provide flexibility, in the ideal position for DLG pilots launch fingers no matter if you are left or right-handed. All the trims and pots adopt the CNC metal hardware that makes the radio more endurable.
Ergonomics
The two side handle grips of Tandem X20Sare made with a high-quality comfortable material, designed ergonomically to fit the hand very well. Both hall gimbals are well-positioned which makes the sticks very close to the grip edge allowing for ease to reach and control, also the spring tension and the stick travel (45°to 60°) can be adjusted. (S & HD versions support rotating gimbals within adjustable L/R 8°).
Internal 900MHz/2.4GHz Dual-Band & External Module Bay
The TD dual-band RF system combines both the features and advantages of FrSky 900MHz and 2.4GHz RF together in one system. The TD features real simultaneous dual-band long-range control with telemetry that achieves reliable end-to-end 4ms latency while maintaining a robust and high-quality signal link. The entire range of TD, ACCESS & ACCST D16 receivers are supported. The built-in TANDEM RF System supports ACCESS and ACCST D16 protocols.
In addition, the Tandem X20 includes a rear Lite version module bay to offer more options to connect external devices. The external Lite module bay supports R9M Lite, R9M PRO-Lite, XJT Lite, etc. FrSky welcomes working compatibility with the 3rd party products with their own developed technology following FrSky verified 3rd party compatibility-testing program.

I plan on diving into fixed wing turbines and needed to upgrade my current radio system.
After researching and talking to fellow RC pilots I arrived at the FrSky radios.
Well I ordered the X20S in Cardinal Red from Helidirect on a Sunday. I was able to use the points I had earned from several years ago to get a couple of bucks off. Wednesday the radio was on the front porch. Thank you Helidirect for the quick shipping and it arrived undamaged.
When you get it, before you try to turn it on. make sure the battery is plugged in. I turned it on and it was up and running in about 10 seconds, which beat my last radio by about a minute and a half.
All I can say visually it is a work of art, the Cardinal red is really nice looking exterior. The switches and pots are great. The gimbals, well I can see FrSky really did a great job on them, one word.... Butter.
The online FrSky community is really helpful and they are churning out more information everyday. There are many many videos on the internet to help you learn programming and using this radio. If you can think it up, and you have enough open channels you can do it. Flashing to the latest software is a pinch, again a little internet research will lead you to sites that will walk you through the entire process.
The double antennae receiver is the industry standard on 2.4, but FrSky adding a 900 back up is just a really nice addition especially with the high dollar toys that we fly. There is also the ability to add satellite onto the receivers as well.
For the price it is well worth the investment. I would have to pay nearly four times as much to get something similar in a S-m radio.
So if you are willing to take the time to learn this is a radio.

This is a feature rich radio system. I have a Spektrum as well as a Futaba system but I think I’ll be converting everything into this Tandem system. Jeti is the only other legitimate dual frequency option but the price point is somewhat out there. The best thing about 5his system is that other products in the eco system are reasonably priced and unlike some other manufacturers, innovation is not dead.
I moved on to this from an NX10 and the difference is night and day. Firstly, kudos to Helidirect for extremely fast shipping to Australia. From the moment I placed the order, the item was in 5 business days (faster than many local dealers). Also about $150 AUD cheaper than local retail stores here. The quality of the gimbals is top notch. It was relatively easy to switch from mode 2 to mode 1. Ethos navigation is simple and setup was quite easy after watching a few videos. Test flights with Helis went well, I am now moving everything over to FrSky. Thanks for a great transaction Helidirect!
I have been a JR Propo user for decades, especially for my helo's, but with the priced what they are today I could not pass this radio up. It will replace my Spektrum 7S , primarily for fixed wing aircraft at this point. The feel and quality of the X20S is outstanding. It will take me some time to get acclimated to the programing, but what else do I have to do this winter. BTW, Helidirect's service is also outstanding.
Very nice construction and quality has not had the opportunity to use yet however, from everything I’ve read, I feel there will be no issues talked with several other RC enthusiast and they’re very pleased with the quality and features of this transmitter. I have no doubt that it is exactly what I was looking for
Purchased a new IX 14 at the beginning of the year and had a few issues with it, not trusting it I purchased the X20s and love it! Ethos system is so easy to learn and the radio layout is perfect. Can not go wrong with FrSky.
I have switched from a Spectrum to FrSky. The X20S is a superb radio for a fraction of the price of a comparable Spectrum. Don't worry about learning a new radio as there are lots of great tutorial videos on YouTube. I took the radio to a club meeting as a show and tell. There is more club members switching.
HeliDirect provided fast shipping and the only one with a Cardinal Red X20S. Wish more Archer SRX receivers were in stock.
