The Yu Xiang F118 is a 1:16 scale MD500 ready-to-fly helicopter with gyro stabilization, a brushless main motor, and two distinct scale finishes. We recommend a clear, open outdoor flying area.
Choose MH-6 Black for the listed pilot-and-soldier figure package, or Magnum PI for its separate appearance and pilot figures. Both are offered as RTF, with a transmitter, flight battery, and dedicated charging equipment listed by HeliDirect.
This is a purchase for someone who wants a recognizable scale subject alongside assisted control. The first decision is the finish and its included details, followed by checking that the aircraft's size suits the space available to fly it.
MH-6 Black
Magnum PI
| Version | Listed scale details | Price (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| MH-6 Black | Two pilot figures and four soldier figures | $479.00 |
| Magnum PI | Two pilot figures | $469.00 |
Prices are in USD, checked on October 21, 2026, and may change. Confirm the finish and current price in the product selector before checkout.
Choose the figure package that suits your display and scale-flying plans.
The page does not describe either color as a GPS upgrade. Buy the F118 for its gyro and positioning features rather than assuming that a larger scale model automatically includes satellite navigation.

MH-6 Black includes two pilots and four soldiers; Magnum PI includes two pilots.
Keep the included manual with the charging equipment. For a model-specific battery system, the charging instructions matter as much as the headline voltage and capacity.

Duration and control distance are listed specifications. Plan flights around the model's actual indications and conditions rather than treating those numbers as fixed targets.
Gyro stabilization, downward optical flow, and laser positioning support controlled hovering. The F118 uses this assistance package without GPS navigation.
A 4306 560KV brushless main motor powers the F118. It combines a defined motor specification with the model’s 437mm main rotor.
The CNC rotor head and swashplate provide the mechanical control system beneath the scale body. Check the rotor assembly and linkages before each session.
The rounded cockpit and scale fuselage give the F118 its MD500 identity. Choose a finish for the scene you want to display and fly.
MH-6 Black includes two pilot figures and four soldier figures. This version suits a military scale presentation with the figures supplied for that finish.
Magnum PI includes two pilot figures with its red, yellow, and black finish. The figure package differs from MH-6 Black.
| Decision | MH-6 Black | Magnum PI |
|---|---|---|
| Model family | F118 MD500 | F118 MD500 |
| Package type | RTF | RTF |
| Pilot figures | Two | Two |
| Soldier figures | Four | Not included |
| Price (USD) | $479.00 | $469.00 |
Choose the finish that matches the scale scene you want to own. If figures are a major reason for the purchase, confirm the chosen version in the order details rather than relying on a general product photograph.
The F118 is worth considering when the main goal is a scale MD500 with assisted control and an included radio. It is also a candidate for a returning helicopter owner who wants the purchase to include the listed battery and dedicated charging equipment.
If you are a first-time pilot, evaluate the flying location before choosing the helicopter. A scale fuselage and stabilization features are appealing, but neither replaces the need for appropriate clearance, preparation, and a clear landing plan.
If your buying requirement is specifically GPS return, compare a product explicitly listed with GPS. The Yu Xiang F112S AH-1 Cobra GPS and non-GPS versions provide another scale subject with a clearly separated GPS choice.
For a different MD500 size, compare the RC ERA C189S MD500 150-size RTF helicopter. Use each model's specifications rather than assuming shared parts or identical control behavior from the similar subject name.
Make the first session an introduction to the model rather than a test of every advertised capability. A deliberate inspection and a short first flight give you time to learn the transmitter and observe how the helicopter responds.
Keep the supplied main and tail blades with the model's tools. Their presence in the box is useful, but it should not encourage flying with a blade of uncertain condition after an impact.
When buying spares, ask for explicit F118 compatibility. The related-products area contains parts named for other Yu Xiang models; that placement does not by itself prove that every displayed part fits this helicopter.
When comparing the two finishes, consider the complete model you want to display and fly. If the soldier figures are central to the appeal, choose MH-6 Black based on its stated package rather than expecting the same group of figures with Magnum PI.
If the model is a gift, keep the selected finish and included-item list with the order details. That gives the recipient a clear reference for checking the package and preparing the equipment before the first session.
Read the charging and transmitter power instructions before the first session, and use the dedicated charging equipment supplied with the helicopter.
| Advantage | Consideration and practical response |
|---|---|
| Two scale finishes | Check which figures belong to the selected version |
| Radio, battery, and special charger listed | Follow the supplied charger and radio power instructions |
| Gyro, laser, and optical flow assistance | Learn the system without assuming GPS functions |
| Listed 13-minute flight duration | Plan a landing reserve and follow battery indications |
| Included blades and tools | Confirm model-specific replacement parts before ordering extras |
The F118's appeal is strongest when its scale appearance and control package match the buyer's goals. Clear expectations about assistance, charging, and operating space make the first ownership experience easier to plan.
It is sold as an RTF helicopter, with a transmitter, flight battery, and special charger listed. Charging, inspection, and following the supplied manual are still required before operation.
The F118 uses gyro stabilization, laser positioning, and optical flow. Choose a GPS-equipped model if satellite navigation and GPS return are essential to your purchase.
The MH-6 Black description lists two pilot figures and four soldiers, while Magnum PI lists two pilots. Their current prices are $479.00 and $469.00 respectively.
The listing specifies an 11.1V 3500mAh 30C modular intelligent battery. Confirm an approved F118 replacement and use the charging arrangement specified for the model.
HeliDirect lists approximately 13 minutes of battery use and 70 minutes of charging. Those are reference specifications rather than a guarantee for every session.
Stabilization may interest a new pilot seeking assisted control. Choose it only with a suitable flying site, a careful reading of the manual, and experienced help when setup is unfamiliar.
We recommend a clear, open outdoor area with space around the 437mm rotor. Optical flow assistance does not make a confined room an appropriate flight site.
Confirm the current HeliDirect policy and product-specific warranty coverage before ordering. Ask about any setup problem or suspected defect directly, and do not assume impact damage is covered.
Choose your finish and review the Yu Xiang F118 MD500 RTF helicopter package before completing your order.

lol typical YUXIANG get so many things right like awesome figures hanging on the platforms to flight characteristics , but then they throw midget pilots in , I mean almost half the size of the other figures . I can see why as the battery really limits the cockpit space .No worries , I had a few Joytoy 1/18 figures I modified to fit , a little heavier but she handles them well and looks so much better . And it has a nice big battery for longer flight times . All in all a nice addition , but still no dsmx port so gotta use their cheesy controller ….good thing anyways as the flight controller is buried in back of fuselage ..
