Okay - I am fully aware that there is nothing "ultra exciting" about a product like this, especially when compared to other hot helis, jets and other bits and bobs of pure RC goodness. So why get excited (at all?) over something like a discharger? Well, if you're anything like me and have a poor habit of storage charging after a long fly day, this device may be the saving grace you're in search of.
LiPo batteries have certainly dropped in price over the years, but there is still an investment in such purchases - especially when you have many on hand. So, taking care of your batteries is key to maximizing the life of said batteries, and for me, that means making sure all my LiPo batteries are all properly storage charged at the end of my day of flying, or at the very least, the following day. However, more often than not, that doesn't happen, which is why the ISDT FD-100 will be my new best friend once the flying day has commenced.
I am fortunate enough to have quite a few LiPo batteries on hand, and with my custom iCharger 308 Duo with its own power supply tucked neatly into a handy carrying case, I have some serious charging power on hand. Due to this powerful and portable system, I am able to charge batteries at an ultra rapid rate, often leaving me with more batteries available than I am able to fly with - a super great problem to have. But, at the end of a long fly day, I no doubt have multiple packs that are fully charged, and by the time I make it home, I'm done - leaving me with several batteries at full charge and little desire to do much about it. Not a good situation for long term storage & battery life.
So, why not pull out the iCharger setup and discharge the packs that way? For starters, my iCharger carrying case setup weighs in at 40 pounds, and it's a hassle to get setup and working for just a few batteries, hence my reluctance to do so. In all reality, it's simply a whole lot of laziness on my part, coupled with a dab of procrastination to sum up the dilemma nicely.
Designed to handle 2S 7.4V to 8S 29.6V batteries, the FD-100 is versatile and incredibly functional. Incorporating a built in cooling fan with internal heat sink to keep temps under control, the user interface is simple and intuitive, making usage of this clever little device easier than ever. And at a price point of $34.99, it just makes perfect sense, allowing ultra easy battery management in a pinch, no matter how lazy you may be.

So, if you're sick of hassling with your charging systems and the fuss & bother necessary to take care of a few select batteries, you may be as excited as me when it comes to the FD-100. Of course, the best (and most enjoyable) way to deplete your packs is in the air at full power, but if a few packs miss the ride, the ISDT FD-100 may be the perfect solution to make sure your LiPo packs are properly cared for once you enter full procrastination mode.
