Align TB40 Helicopter Kit with 400MX (1100kv) Motor

Great kit and easy to build. Had a few spare parts figured I’d put one together thanks HeliDirect.

Super easy to build instructions are extremely easy to follow along with.

This was my first kit so i had no idea what to expect all together it took me about 10 hours to complete maybe a bit less. There was some Loctite included but no grease not a big deal. All the parts were absolutely beautiful and there was no excessive maching oil or anything like that. The electronics all just worked without much hassle.

I had some trouble with the minibeast but it was due to a bad satellite and not the FBL unit. Once i got a good sat it was a breeze. I highly suggest using WestHobbieRC's TB-60 guide if you have any problems, the main difference I can see between the tb60 and the 40 is the tail belt tensioning method.

very well packaged. look forward to building it. The price was right and i cant wait to do the build. Manual could be a bit better. not sure why it needs to have align written across every page. This website is awesome by the way!!!!!

Typical (modern) Align build. I remember the old TRex 600 days with a quality manual showing exploded views and part numbers. Not the case anymore with photocopied low-resolution manual but it's good enough with some intuition. As others have noted, there seems to be a lot of drag in the drivetrain, likely from high belt tension. Autorotations will not be its strong suit but it seems efficient enough from the motor direction to not draw excessive amps. One disappointment was even at the "loosest" setting of the boom placement, I could not get the tail belt loose enough to assemble the tail. I actually had to file the boom mounting holes about 1mm towards the nose to allow the boom to slide forward enough the assemble the tail and not be overly tight. Hopefully this will be corrected. It looks and flies great otherwise.

The Align TB40 is a very nice helicopter kit and is reasonably priced. The parts in the kit were nicely machined/molded. The kit was easy to assemble. The instruction were nicely done. It took me more time to install the electronics and get them working properly than it did to assemble the kit.

I have the 450, 470, and this TB40 is by far the best Heli so far. The build was easy nothing was missing together as expected. Hello direct was great to work with fast shipping.
