SteamRC AK420 PRO Helicopter Kit (with Blades)

My kit arrived with damaged parts, open parts bags, missing parts and soft metal parts. Save your money and get a better quality kit!

I recently bought one of these Steam 420 PRO. This kit NEEDS a printed manual, the electronic can be printed at least.

It's a decent quality helicopter with most parts fitting really well (even the plastic parts). I do like that there are shims included for almost everything. Some people could say this is a issue with fit, but I've built high quality kits that could use shims to make the fit perfect. There are some clever things like a swash leveling and ball link tool. The ball links have a reinforcing ring Getting the boom aligned and installing the tail drive gear takes some patience. The landing gear with the metal inserts is kinda clever.

The Steam 420 blades are garbage. I mean they will be fine for hovering and sport flying, but you get what you pay for. If you are a hardcore 3D pilot, get a better set of 420s. The pinion also needs to be taller, getting a better feeling head speed needs a 13t pinion included in the kit.

Fly's well, but just needs a bit more "pop" which I think a better set of blades and a 13t pinion will wake it up a bit.

Bought this thing strictly for training purposes due to price and recommendations from a friend. Though there are a few small details that I would consider a little less in quality than a higher-end machine, such as the way the rear cyclic servo mounts, and the tail control rod ball links threading into the plastic, they are such small details. For the price point, I can't see how it can be beat. It really is great quality for what it is. The price of replacement parts is what sold me. Even the replacement parts for my Logo 200 are more expensive. I think the tail servo/belt tensioning device is a pretty neat little feature of this heli and I really like the durability of the main gear. In this particular build, I also used the Steam motor and it works fantastic. If I had any concerns, it would be about the availabiltiy of parts, as it seems there are only two vendors that sells parts and some of the main parts like the main and feathering shafts can be out of stock for long periods of time.

This heli is at a really good price. The parts are at a good price also, and are available most of the time. The kit went together well. However, I don't really care for the way they mount #2 elevator servo as compared to the other servo. It flies very good even for beginners. This heli takes a bit of newbie beating also and comes out good, surprisingly! I would recommend this kit to anyone on a hobby budget but still wants good quality and accessibility. BTW, I never give 5 stars as nobody is perfect!

After seeing one of these first hand I just I had to have one and let me tell you after I received the steam 420 and inspecting all the components o was like wow I'm impressed with the quality and craftsmanship especially for the price. the build is precise and goes together with perfection. with that said I really looking forward to see what else come out the the steam camp. two thumbs up here.

Great helicopter. great price.good quality parts. Flys excellent fews things I will change like the tail. but at this price it can't be beat If they keep the price for the kit and the parts at these prices it will be a big hit and a very wanted helicopter to fly I will by more ak420's and a ak700. Highly recommend it. The other brands better be paying attention.

Assembles easy, everything fits as it should. Parts appear to be good quality and very good price for parts.
Flies exceptionally well, and is perfect size for me as a back yard practise heli.
